What to wear for a day in the field — clothing built for silence, weather, and comfort, whatever the season.
The right gear depends on the season, the weather, and the type of hunting you're doing. In general, dark-colored or camouflage hunting clothes and hats are strongly recommended.
Start from the ground up. Lightweight or ankle-height boots are all you need — many shooters even wear sneakers. Snake boots are recommended from November to March. For relaxing around the lodge, comfortable clothes like jeans, sneakers, t-shirts, and caps do the job. Trousers should be multi-pocket, in a silent, waterproof, windproof, breathable fabric — dark-colored or camouflage.

For hunts that call for maximum blending into the environment, camouflage with 3-dimensional elements — branches, leaves, mimicked colors — in a soft, silent fabric keeps you undetected by the dove. Carrying the right gear is essential to an excellent dove hunting experience.
Up top, T-shirts (ideally 100% cotton) and shirts with a pocket work well, layered with sweaters, long-sleeve cotton shirts, and polar fleece zip-up tops. A hunting vest in silent, 100% cotton, peach-skin-touch fabric — windbreaker, breathable, abrasion-resistant, polar-lined, and multi-pocket — is a great addition; ideally reversible to high-visibility.
For your head, caps or hats depending on conditions, plus a lightweight rain suit and waterproof hat on rainy days. Leather shooting gloves are strongly recommended to avoid blisters, along with shooting glasses or sunglasses, sunscreen, and lip balm.
