The key difference between the US dove and the Argentine dove (Eared Dove, Zenaida auriculata) is that the Eared dove doesn't migrate — the flocks live around the Macha roost year-round. It's the hunters who migrate, flying in from Texas each season to shoot for a few days in and around the fields just outside the lodge.
The other difference is how often they breed: in the US, doves typically nest once a year with 1–2 eggs. In Córdoba, the Eared dove nests 4–6 times a year, with 3–5 eggs per nest — which is exactly why the population here is what it is.
